Community Engagement & Public Art Practitioner
Is an independent (DEI) diversity, equity, & inclusion creative facilitator, community engagement officer, and public art practitioner. Rashad provides a wide variety of modalities for individuals, groups, companies, and organizations that integrate the mind, body, and spirit. As a (de-colonizing) somatic practitioner (CMT-SE), he focuses on working with communities with social justice issues and dismantling racism globally. He carries with him a background in restorative justice mediation, ProcessWork psychology, conflict resolution and community-engaged learning. Within dance & performance, Rashad’s work is rooted in an Afrofuturist perspective, creative direct action, and an a nourishing ecosystem experience. He is the conceptual creator of The Black Lives Masquerade a public art processional, touring the Bay Area for three years culminating with a short film. He has worked with #TodayAtApple as a creative specialist in the Video Lab: Record A Global Street Dance. He has provided DEI and social justice work for a variety of organizations, which include: Seeding Justice (Pdx) Black Feast (Pdx) Museum of Dance (Sant Fe NM) Phame Arts Academy (Pdx) Portland Institute for The Art (Pdx) Viva La Free (Pdx) Rejoice Dance Theater (Theater) Impact HUB Oakland/San Francisco, and Late Nite Art (Bay Area)
